WHAT I DO

I’m an artist and maker based in Forfar, Scotland. Since graduating from Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, I’ve developed my practice from tile making to creating forms and vessels with porcelain and paper clay. All of my work is hand built using slabs of clay which are rolled, cut or shaped around forms. This process allows me to create any shape within the limits of the materials while giving me the flexibility to inlay colours using well practised techniques.

I’ve always combined my ceramics practice with my work in arts and business consultancy. This mix has enabled me to work closely with artists, makers and designers from diverse cultures around the world.

The skills I’ve gained through these connections has given me a unique perspective that in turn informs my practice. It has also enabled me to develop my practice beyond just ceramics. I now incorporate plastics and recycled materials into my body of work, creating installations for exhibition. These pieces aim to draw attention to the issues I feel most strongly about within a “closed loop” approach and respect for the environment.

My most recent collection, Inside Outside, is a visual response to the Black Lives Matter movement and the urgent need to address global racial inequality.
