MATTER - Earth, Materials + Making o The Barn, Banchory, Sept - Nov 2022

An exhibition of new work by Applied Arts Scotland’s Closing the Loop Research Group exploring the development of new materials and making processes to support sustainable and environmentally responsible practice. The twelve members of the group have collaborated over two years, exchanging ideas, tools and making techniques to support a circular approach to minimising waste and maximising the use of precious resources. My Now and Forever wall mounted work uses a mix of re-purposed porcelain, glass, stone, wood, pine resin, plastic, wax, soap, human and horse hair, along with donated insects, to provoke questions about value and preciousness, exploring materials that are not just non toxic or neutral but regenerative, providing nutrients to the earth when decomposed.
